MariaDB/MySQL Database Administrator (Hybrid – Bogota)

About the role

The MariaDB Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for ensuring the deployment, maintenance, performance, integrity and security of a MariaDB database platform for critical applications. The DBA works closely with Software Reliability Engineers, System Engineering colleagues on Linux activities, and R&D teams to deliver optimal database performance.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deploy multi‑terabyte database clusters with high‑availability and fault‑tolerance, including multi‑site HA when required.
• Ensure storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures function correctly, also in disaster‑recovery scenarios.
• Maintain and upgrade clusters to meet patch, kernel and security standards (PCIDSS compliance and vulnerability remediation).
• Monitor performance and tune database parameters to provide a best‑of‑class experience.
• Investigate incidents, debug problems and deliver recovery solutions in 24x7 operations.
• Participate in the on‑call roster and support emergency response.
• Write and maintain documentation, platform specifications and procedural guides.
• Collaborate with the database development team to continuously improve MariaDB automation and ecosystem.

Required profile

• 3+ years managing MySQL or MariaDB databases in a critical, highly available enterprise environment.
• Strong experience working with Linux platforms.
• Hands‑on experience with database automation tools such as Ansible, Python or shell scripting.
• Knowledge of additional database technologies (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server 2016+, Oracle 19c+) is a plus.
