Ocean Export and Import Coordinator

About the role

The Ocean Export and Import Coordinator will manage end‑to‑end ocean freight shipments, ensuring they meet customer and forwarding agent requirements while aligning with company objectives. This role involves coordinating bookings, tracking, documentation, and compliance for both export and import movements.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate ocean export and import shipments from booking through delivery, optimizing routes and tracking progress.
• Prepare and process all required shipping documents such as Bill of Lading, Air Waybill, invoices and EEI.
• Liaise with customers, agents, vendors and internal teams to ensure smooth operations.
• Maintain accurate shipment records, costing, quoting and billing information.
• Monitor shipments and provide timely updates to stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with FMC, NVOCC regulations and INCOTERMS 2020.
• Troubleshoot operational and system‑related issues as they arise.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience in logistics or transportation, specifically handling international ocean shipments.
• Associate degree, vocational training, or at least two years of college coursework in a related field.
• US export/import compliance training preferred; ocean dangerous goods (DG) training is a plus.
• Fluent written and spoken English; additional language skills are a plus.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience using Rhenus logistics systems.
• Knowledge of ACE system (preferred).
• Understanding of FMC, NVOCC regulations and INCOTERMS 2020.
• Familiarity with ocean dangerous goods handling.
