Platform Engineer - OpenStack/OpenShift

About the role

Capgemini Engineering is looking for a Platform Engineer to join its Infrastructure Customer Engineering and Support team, a special engineering task force dedicated to designing, deploying and troubleshooting OpenStack and OpenShift environments. The team works on technologies such as Nokia Container Services (NCS) and CloudBand Infrastructure Software (CBIS), private clouds based on Kubernetes and OpenStack, and collaborates closely with developers and product engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy, configure, manage, troubleshoot and optimize containerized applications and infrastructure on Kubernetes, OpenShift and OpenStack.
• Develop, test and maintain automation scripts in Python and Ansible to streamline operations.
• Investigate and resolve complex, high-severity customer incidents, identifying root causes and implementing durable solutions.
• Prepare and run Root Cause Analyses (RCA) for critical incidents.
• Stay up to date with cloud and containerization best practices and emerging technologies.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of core networking (TCP/IP, routing, load balancing, firewalls, VLANs, IP routing).
• Proven experience with EME (escalation, monitoring and emergency) management processes.
• Understanding of relational databases such as MySQL and MariaDB, and experience with ETCD.
• Preferred certifications: Red Hat Certified Specialist in Cloud Infrastructure (EX210), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Red Hat OpenStack (EX310), Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration (EX280) and Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Automation and API Management (EX380).

Required skills

• Kubernetes orchestration, OpenStack and Docker; Podman, Helm and KVM/QEMU are a significant advantage.
• Python scripting and Bash, and familiarity with Ansible.
• Root cause analysis (RCA).
