Principal Software Engineer – Identity & Access Management

About the role

Sezzle is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to lead the evolution of its authentication and authorization platform. This fully remote, senior‑level position offers the chance to shape a purpose‑built API auth gateway and a suite of identity and access management services for a fast‑growing fintech.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the technical vision, architecture, and migration strategy for the new auth platform.
• Design, develop, and deliver high‑performance gateway and identity services.
• Collaborate with Product, Security, Support, and business stakeholders to ensure safe, incremental adoption.
• Partner with engineering teams across the organization to integrate authentication capabilities.
• Mentor and unblock teammates, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Focus on foundational platform capabilities, security‑critical paths, and edge performance.

Required profile

• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven leadership in building authentication/authorization systems.
• Strong background in backend development and API design.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
• Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
