Python Backend Engineer – GCP & FastAPI

About the role

We are looking for a Python Backend Engineer to join our team and build cloud‑native APIs in a Google Cloud Platform environment. You will work closely with the data team to design, implement, and optimise data‑driven services that power our applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python and FastAPI on GCP.
• Build efficient data extraction components and real‑time streaming pipelines.
• Integrate services with BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Cloud SQL.
• Implement cloud‑native monitoring, logging, and alerting (Stackdriver, Cloud Logging, Cloud Monitoring).
• Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to micro‑service design.
• Collaborate with data engineers, product owners, and cross‑functional teams.
• Ensure code quality through unit and integration testing, code reviews, and best practices.

Required profile

• Strong experience developing production‑grade backend services.
• Mid‑ to senior‑level proficiency in Python.
• Hands‑on experience with FastAPI.
• Experience working with GCP services and data‑centric backends.
• Ability to write unit and integration tests.
• Good verbal and written English communication skills.
