Senior Bookkeeper – Remote (Accounting Firm)

About the role

Higher Options is looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to manage day‑to‑day financial records for a growing accounting firm. The position is fully remote and open to candidates worldwide, especially those who can overlap with U.S. business hours.

Key responsibilities

• Record and maintain daily, monthly, and yearly financial transactions in the accounting system.
• Prepare balance sheets, income statements, cash‑flow statements and other financial reports.
• Perform bank and credit‑card reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, create invoices, and ensure timely payments.
• Maintain the general ledger, track fixed assets, and prepare depreciation schedules.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, month‑end and year‑end closing activities.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, assist with tax filings and regulatory reporting.
• Collaborate with management, CPAs and stakeholders using cloud‑based tools.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of professional bookkeeping experience (5 years preferred).
• Hands‑on experience with U.S. accounting practices.
• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Xero or Zoho Books.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Familiarity with U.S. GAAP and tax procedures.
