Senior Mechanical Designer

About the role

Hatch is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer to join its Project Delivery Group in Medellín. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality mechanical equipment layouts, 3D models and detailed drawings for projects in mining, energy and infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Produce mechanical equipment layouts, 3D models and 2D drawings in line with project requirements.
• Interpret plant PFDs, P&IDs and battery limits to ensure design compliance.
• Coordinate draftspersons and senior draftspersons, manage contract drawing preparation and record keeping.
• Develop conceptual layouts, check drawings before release and create design details for standard elements.
• Apply applicable standards, technical specifications and enterprise procedures throughout the design process.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of mechanical component and system design for industrial plants.
• Experience interpreting process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Ability to work under the supervision of a Lead Mechanical Engineer and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety, sustainability and quality.
