Senior Mechanical Designer

About the role

Hatch is looking for a Senior Mechanical Designer to join its Project Delivery Group in Medellín. You will work on the creation of mechanical equipment layouts, 3D models and detailed drawings for mining, energy and infrastructure projects, supporting the delivery of safe and sustainable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Produce mechanical equipment layouts, 3D models and 2D drawings in line with project requirements.
• Interpret plant PFDs, P&IDs, battery limits and user specifications.
• Coordinate draftspersons and senior draftspersons to ensure accurate contract drawings.
• Perform conceptual layout work, check drawings before release and develop standard design details.
• Generate 3D equipment models and translate them into 2D documentation as needed.
• Apply applicable standards, technical specifications and project procedures throughout the design process.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of mechanical component and system design for industrial plants.
• Understanding of plant processes and ability to translate owner requirements into design solutions.
• Experience working under the supervision of a Lead Mechanical Engineer.
• Ability to coordinate and mentor drafting teams.
