Senior Mechanical Engineer – HVAC, Plumbing & Hydronic Systems

About the role

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead the advanced design and documentation of HVAC, plumbing, hydronic, and fire‑protection systems across a diverse project portfolio. The role applies deep technical judgment to deliver code‑compliant, efficient, and high‑quality solutions from concept through construction documents.

Key responsibilities

• Perform advanced design of HVAC, plumbing and hydronic systems, including load calculations, ventilation, and energy/economic analysis.
• Select, size, and specify mechanical equipment and layout mechanical rooms with constructability, access and serviceability in mind.
• Develop production drawings and documentation using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Prepare and review calculations, control sequences, system diagrams, schedules, details and technical specifications.
• Apply relevant building, mechanical, plumbing, fire‑protection and energy codes to all designs.
• Conduct independent QA/QC reviews to ensure adherence to company technical standards.
• Track discipline hours, flag scope changes early and support project budget alignment.
• Identify and recommend process improvements that enhance technical quality and project efficiency.

Required profile

• 8+ years of progressive MEP design experience, including HVAC and plumbing for commercial, residential, healthcare or institutional projects.
• Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication abilities.
• Experience with load simulation tools such as EnergyPro, Trane TRACE or Carrier HAP (preferred).
• Working knowledge of Bluebeam and California or Oregon building‑code requirements (preferred).
• Ability to define problems, evaluate data, draw valid technical conclusions and meet project deadlines.
• Excellent organizational and time‑management skills in a fluid environment.
