Software Engineer

About the role

Bright Harbor is looking for an Elixir Engineer to join a small, distributed team and help build, maintain, and evolve its growing software platform. You will work closely with product managers and other engineers to turn user problems into reliable, well‑tested production code.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and improve core platform components using Elixir.
• Collaborate with product managers to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Build and maintain integrations with internal and external APIs and services.
• Write reliable, maintainable, and well‑tested code that interacts with PostgreSQL.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across the application.
• Contribute to engineering practices and platform evolution as the product scales.

Required profile

• 2+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Elixir and/or Erlang.
• Solid understanding of functional programming principles.
• Experience building and maintaining production web applications.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
• Experience designing, consuming, or maintaining APIs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Ability to work remotely from Latin America with overlapping hours with Austin, Texas.
