Software Engineer (Rust) – Consumer Applications

About the role

Kraken’s Consumer team is looking for a Software Engineer with strong Rust expertise to build and maintain the suite of consumer‑facing applications that bring crypto services to millions of users. You will design high‑performance, reliable services that power trading, payments and other crypto experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement robust Rust services and libraries for trading, payments and crypto workflows.
• Write reusable, testable, high‑efficiency code that scales across teams and supports revenue‑critical systems.
• Collaborate on large‑scale distributed system architecture, translating product requirements into low‑latency solutions.
• Debug issues across the full stack (OS, network, application) and ensure security‑first system design.
• Take end‑to‑end ownership of services and libraries, mentoring junior engineers and shaping technical culture.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Rust, especially building network services or asynchronous code.
• Security‑first mindset and ability to autonomously troubleshoot across OS, network and application layers.
• Experience with distributed systems, RPC protocols, Kafka and event‑driven architectures.
• Effective collaboration with product teams and ability to own systems from design to production.
