Staff DevOps Engineer

About the role

As a Staff DevOps Engineer at Amwell, you will strengthen the scalability, reliability, and automation of our cloud infrastructure and DevOps platforms. You will partner with engineering, SRE, and product teams to enable faster, safer software delivery while maintaining high operational confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and improve highly available, high‑performance cloud infrastructure.
• Drive multi‑region and multi‑account architectures across AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Collaborate with SRE and product teams to enhance system resiliency, latency, and operational efficiency.
• Identify reliability risks and implement improvements to strengthen platform stability.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines that support reliable software delivery.
• Apply Infrastructure‑as‑Code practices using Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools.
• Support modern deployment strategies such as blue‑green, canary, and progressive delivery.
• Continuously evolve automation frameworks to reduce operational overhead.
• Implement and enhance observability using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry, and related tools.

Required profile

• Deep hands‑on expertise in cloud platforms and DevOps automation.
• Proven ability to work across multiple engineering teams and mentor engineers.
• Strong focus on building resilient, secure, and efficient platforms.
• Passion for driving best practices and continuous innovation.

Required skills

• AWS, GCP or Azure cloud services
• Terraform, Ansible (or comparable IaC tools)
• CI/CD pipeline design and implementation
• Blue‑green, canary, progressive delivery strategies
• Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, OpenTelemetry for observability
