Tax Manager

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking a Tax Manager to join its growing tax team. You will support the full scope of tax work, from U.S. income tax and year‑end filings to sales‑tax compliance, while acting as a trusted point of contact for clients and teammates.

Key responsibilities

• Support all areas of the tax practice and lead sales‑tax compliance, filings, nexus reviews, and client inquiries.
• Prepare and review business and individual tax returns, managing deadlines across a multi‑client portfolio.
• Communicate clearly with clients and internal teams to address tax questions.
• Own work end‑to‑end, staying organized without needing follow‑up.
• Help build tax processes and documentation, staying current on federal, state, and local changes.

Required profile

• Enrolled Agent (EA) credential or equivalent experience with a proven track record in U.S. income tax and year‑end work.
• Ability to manage a multi‑client portfolio and meet filing deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and initiative to work independently.

Required skills

• Knowledge of U.S. income tax and year‑end filing requirements.
• Experience with sales‑tax compliance and platforms such as Avalara or TaxJar.
• Proficiency with tax software used in outsourced accounting or CPA‑firm environments.
