Tech Lead DevOps / SRE (AWS)

About the role

GME International is the technology team of a business group that runs data and IoT platforms on AWS in production, processing near-real-time telemetry from connected devices shown in web portals and a mobile app. The role is the technical lead of the Medellín team, keeping the platform stable, secure, recoverable and cost-efficient, and acting as the technical link to the US business team. It is hybrid: 3 days in the office, 2 from home.

Key responsibilities

• Run production infrastructure on AWS: availability, scaling, patching, monitoring, alerting and cost.
• Codify the existing infrastructure in Terraform, including production.
• Lead a team of 2-3 engineers: plan the work, review code (including AI-generated code) and grow the team.
• Build CI/CD with security scanning, reversible deployments and a staging environment.
• Secure the platform: least-privilege IAM, secrets and encryption (Secrets Manager, KMS), networking (VPC).
• Own backups, disaster recovery and data retention.
• Handle production incidents and lead post-mortems.
• Report to the US team in English on status, estimates and documentation.
• Support the technical evaluation and integration of acquired companies.

Required profile

• 6+ years in infrastructure, DevOps/SRE or backend in production, including 3+ years running AWS in production.
• Experience leading other engineers.
• Cloud security: IAM, networking, secrets management.
• C1 English, spoken and written.
• Nice to have: AWS certifications, methodical use of AI tools, and having codified hand-built infrastructure.

Required skills

• Terraform (or other IaC), Docker and CI/CD.
• Nice to have: Node.js/TypeScript (NestJS) and PostgreSQL; AWS ECS/Fargate, Lambda, IoT Core (MQTT), SQS/SNS, EventBridge, RDS, ElastiCache, IoT or time-series databases.

What we offer

• Full-time employee, indefinite-term contract: COP 11,000,000 to 17,000,000 per month depending on experience, plus statutory benefits; or independent contractor at USD 4,000 to 5,000 per month.
• Health allowance of up to COP 150,000 a month toward a complementary health plan or prepaid medicine, on top of the mandatory EPS.
• Compensation review at 6 months based on performance and an AWS certification budget.
• Relocation support negotiable for candidates elsewhere in Colombia.
