Air Freight Operations Expert (AFR OAM)

About the role

We are looking for an Air Freight Operations Expert (AFR OAM) to join our Global Service Center in Bogota. You will be the first point of contact for customers, ensuring smooth end‑to‑end air freight movements while maintaining compliance and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of transport orders, ensuring timely pickup and optimizing booking processes.
• Prepare, control and distribute necessary documents, guaranteeing compliance with origin export and destination import regulations.
• Collaborate with counterparts to validate and finalize documentation.
• Assign tasks to supporting functions and monitor their performance.
• Meet and exceed customer expectations and internal Key Performance Indicators.
• Provide accurate shipment status, documentation requirements, incident resolution and pricing/quotes as the primary customer contact.
• Record, track, resolve and analyse operational exceptions, proactively updating customers.
• Communicate professionally with DHL network colleagues, emphasizing urgency on behalf of the customer.
• Obtain and maintain all required system and commodity certifications.
• Ensure correct costs and revenues are captured, taking full ownership of financial performance and resolving related issues.
• Accept customer quotation requests, forward them to the Quotations team and pass leads to Sales.
• Support on weekends for urgent or critical situations that could affect shipment movement.

Required profile

• Minimum of 1 year experience in air freight forwarding.
• Strong understanding of air regulations, documentation and Incoterms.
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
• Proactive, solution‑oriented mindset with a "can do" attitude.
• Ability to resolve product movement issues and communicate effectively with customers.
• Students or professionals in industrial engineering, international business or related fields are welcome.
