Air Freight Specialist

About the role

The Air Freight Specialist is responsible for end‑to‑end execution and coordination of air freight shipments, both import and export, ensuring a high‑quality customer experience while complying with operational processes, regulatory requirements and service standards. The role involves shipment execution, customer communication, issue resolution and maintaining operational accuracy to support reliable and efficient air freight services.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and execute import and export air freight shipments according to customer instructions and operational procedures.
• Serve as the primary operational point of contact for customers, providing timely updates and ensuring service expectations are met.
• Review shipment documentation to verify accuracy of cargo details, rates and transport instructions.
• Monitor shipment milestones, proactively managing exceptions, delays or disruptions.
• Collaborate closely with origin/destination offices, carriers and internal teams to ensure smooth execution.
• Ensure compliance with internal SOPs, regulatory requirements and country‑specific restrictions for commodities and destinations.
• Register and maintain shipment milestones in the assigned control tools and systems.
• Escalate operational issues when required and propose alternative solutions.
• Support post‑shipment activities including invoicing accuracy, cost input and documentation closure.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying operational inefficiencies and error trends.

Required profile

• Minimum 1–3 years of experience in air freight operations, logistics or freight forwarding.
• Hands‑on experience with import and export air freight processes.
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders across operations, customer service and finance.
• Exposure to KPI tracking, milestone control and operational follow‑up.
• Technical or technological education in logistics or freight forwarding; students in final semesters or graduates in International Trade, International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration or related fields.
• Basic to intermediate English proficiency sufficient to understand and communicate operational information.
