Associate Director – Fire Detection & Alarm Systems for Data Centers

About the role

Join AECOM's Fire Detection Engineering team in Bogota as an Associate Director, leading the design of fire detection, evacuation and alarm systems for mission‑critical data centers.

Key responsibilities

• Design fire detection and alarm systems for data centers, ensuring reliability, scalability and efficiency.
• Coordinate integration with HVAC, access control, fire protection and electrical systems.
• Perform risk analysis and occupancy classification to define appropriate fire protection technologies.
• Select equipment and size components, complying with standards such as Uptime Institute, TIA‑942, IEEE, IEC, NFPA and NEC.
• Incorporate energy‑efficiency and sustainability strategies, including renewable energy and storage integration.
• Prepare plant drawings, schematics, P&IDs, control single‑line diagrams and model systems in Revit; review for clashes using Navisworks.
• Review submittals, resolve technical comments from authorities, and supervise testing, commissioning and troubleshooting of fire detection and alarm systems.

Required profile

• BSc in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent) with 8+ years of experience focused on data‑center infrastructure.
• Proven expertise designing fire detection and alarm systems for data centers, including automation and critical‑systems integration.
• Deep knowledge of data‑center tier standards (Uptime Institute, TIA‑942) and regulations (NSR‑10, NFPA, FM, UL, NEMA, NEC).
• Experience reviewing contractor submittals, shop drawings and RFIs.
• Advanced written and spoken English.

Required skills
