Backend Engineer – Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot & GraphQL

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain high‑performance services that support millions of job seekers and employers worldwide. You will work independently on meaningful features, collaborating closely with product, design, and platform teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operate backend services using Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot, and Spring Batch with a focus on reliability and scalability.
• Create and evolve GraphQL and REST APIs for internal and consumer‑facing products.
• Build and optimise batch processing pipelines for data‑intensive workflows.
• Leverage LLM‑assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development while applying rigorous code review.
• Analyse trade‑offs between performance, maintainability, and delivery speed.
• Participate in code reviews, on‑call rotations, and incident response to ensure service health.
• Partner with product managers, architects, and engineers to scope work and deliver against objectives.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional backend engineering experience, primarily in Java with comfort in Kotlin.
• Proven production experience with Spring Boot and Spring Batch (or equivalent JVM batch frameworks).
• Strong fundamentals in REST API design and hands‑on experience with GraphQL.
• Demonstrated ability to use LLM‑based coding assistants responsibly in daily workflows.
• Solid understanding of relational/NoSQL databases, async messaging (Kafka or similar), and distributed systems.
