Lead Software Architect – Payments Network

About the role

Mastercard’s Network Products team is seeking a Lead Software Architect to shape the end‑to‑end architecture of its switching and network services. In this individual‑contributor role you will work across the product lifecycle, from ideation through delivery, ensuring that solutions are scalable, resilient, secure and aligned with business goals.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers, business stakeholders and regional solution teams to define product vision, goals and success criteria.
• Provide early architectural assessments of new product ideas, evaluating technical feasibility, scalability and operability.
• Define and advocate architecture principles such as decoupling, micro‑services, domain‑driven design, event‑driven architecture, performance and security.
• Create high‑level logical architecture (system design) and produce architecture artifacts for new offerings, epics and use‑cases.
• Engage with adjacent domains to ensure seamless integration while preserving clear boundaries.
• Validate technical feasibility of ideas, drive innovation and ensure designs support network‑scale performance.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a software or product architect in large‑scale, high‑throughput systems.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills to build consensus across cross‑functional teams.
• Ability to translate business requirements into robust architectural solutions.
