National Liaison Officer

About the role

The United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia (UNVMC) is seeking a National Liaison Officer to support the Verification of Security Guarantees Office in Bogota. Reporting to the Head and Senior Liaison Officer, the incumbent will act as a key interface between the mission, Colombian government entities, UN agencies and NGOs, contributing to the implementation of security guarantees under the peace agreement.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert advice and strategic networking with the High‑Level Unit of the Comprehensive Security System to promote policies dismantling illegal armed groups.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of point 3.4 of the peace agreement and draft analysis reports and recommendations, including a gender perspective.
• Supply information on the Colombia peace process and cooperate with counterparts to develop strategies addressing peace challenges.
• Support design, implementation and monitoring of verification protocols, briefing notes, thematic and situational reports, and inputs to the Secretary‑General’s quarterly report.
• Promote strategic partnerships with UNCT, other international organisations and government bodies, and monitor actions of intergovernmental groups and NGOs.
• Participate in fact‑finding missions and prepare talking points for senior officials.
• Ensure compliance with UNVMC policies, code of conduct and ethics.

Required profile

• Demonstrated expertise in security guarantees and peace‑process verification.
• Strong knowledge of the Colombian peace agreement and related political context.
• Experience liaising with government ministries, UN agencies and civil‑society organisations.
• Ability to produce analytical reports with gender‑sensitive analysis.
