AML Analyst – Anti-Money Laundering Operations

About the role

The AML Analyst will support ScotiaGBS’s Anti‑Money Laundering Operations Unit in Bogotá, ensuring that all activities comply with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and risk‑management frameworks. The role involves investigating customer relationships and transaction patterns to detect potential financial, reputational, operational, or compliance risks.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and enforce day‑to‑day business controls related to operational risk, regulatory compliance, AML/CTF, and conduct risk.
• Investigate and analyse transactions, identifying unusual patterns in international payments and trade finance.
• Prepare risk assessment reports describing suspected money‑laundering typologies, scope of investigation, risk evaluation, and remediation recommendations.
• Support the Bank in meeting AML regulatory obligations by detecting and reporting suspicious activities.
• Develop and maintain strong knowledge of the Bank’s AML/CTF policies, regulations, industry best practices, and emerging criminal typologies.
• Provide timely assistance to business line colleagues, security & investigations, and shared services on case assessments and resolutions.
• Assist the AML Manager or Senior Manager in mitigating money‑laundering and terrorist‑financing risks.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in AML/CTF investigations and transaction monitoring.
• Solid understanding of AML/CTF policies, regulations, and global compliance frameworks.
• Ability to analyse complex transaction data and identify risk exposures.
• Strong written communication skills for preparing risk assessment reports.
