Assistant Liaison Officer

About the role

The Assistant Liaison Officer supports the Verification Division’s Socio‑Economic and Political Reintegration Section of the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia (UNVMC). Based in Bogota, the role contributes to the mission’s mandate by analysing information, preparing briefing materials and monitoring reintegration developments.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and analyse information from communications, publications and press sources.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of social and economic reintegration issues, especially concerning former FARC‑EP combatants.
• Assist senior officers in drafting briefing notes, background papers, talking points and other correspondence.
• Prepare summaries of articles and contribute to sections of reports.
• Monitor political, socio‑economic and related developments with a focus on private‑sector aspects.
• Participate in fact‑finding missions and provide guidance to regional offices.
• Support verification and advocacy efforts of the Reintegration Section and follow up on strategy implementation.
• Maintain databases tracking progress of reintegration plans and programs.
• Ensure UNVMC policies, code of conduct and gender‑sensitive approaches are applied across all activities.
• Perform other related duties as required.
