Backend Engineer – TypeScript/Node.js

About the role

We are seeking a Backend Engineer to join the Glassdoor Community / Fishbowl Backend team. You will help keep the Fishbowl product on track for its FY26 roadmap by developing and maintaining core services.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver new backend features using TypeScript/Node.js, MongoDB and Redis.
• Collaborate end‑to‑end with frontend engineers, product managers and stakeholders.
• Identify and resolve performance and scalability bottlenecks as the user base grows.
• Own sprint‑scoped tickets from development through merge and production deployment.
• Provide production support, including bug fixes, performance improvements and on‑call incident response.
• Measure and remediate latency, error‑rate or throughput issues.

Required profile

• Proven experience with Node.js and TypeScript in a production environment.
• Hands‑on experience building RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI) and containerised deployments.
• Ability to work independently and own features from concept to release.
