BIM Specialist / Building Consultant

About the role

J.S. Held is looking for a highly motivated BIM Specialist / Building Consultant to join its Building Consulting Practice Group in Medellin, Colombia. The role focuses on delivering exceptional service to clients involved in insurance claim processes, creating detailed BIM models, performing field inspections, and supporting the preparation of expert reports.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate with clients and project stakeholders throughout the claim process.
• Develop BIM models across Levels of Development (LOD 100‑400) tailored to project needs.
• Identify and prioritize design conflicts by cost and schedule impact, proposing technical solutions.
• Conduct field inspections and site visits as required.
• Assist in estimating projects of various sizes, learning tools such as Xactimate, Cotality and RSMeans.
• Review and analyse schedules, contracts, change orders, correspondence and other project documents.
• Ensure deadlines and cost targets are met through effective communication.

Required profile

• Civil Engineering bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience.
• Minimum 4 years of BIM modeling, construction budgeting, scheduling or related construction experience.
• Experience working with General Contractors in the United States is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical mindset and willingness to develop report‑writing skills.
