Prehospital Care Technician (Consultant) – UN Mission Colombia

About the role

The United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia seeks a qualified Prehospital Care Technician on a consultancy basis to deliver high‑quality paramedical support across remote field locations. The contractor will act as the first responder for UN staff, provide routine medical care, and ensure 24/7 emergency coverage while documenting activities in monthly reports.

Key responsibilities

• Provide emergency assistance and first‑responder care to UNVMC personnel in designated remote areas.
• Deliver routine medical services, health orientation, and training to staff.
• Maintain 24/7 in‑person emergency care availability, including weekends and UN holidays.
• Identify, plan, and requisition medical supplies, equipment, and material needed for field operations.
• Prepare and submit monthly electronic progress reports with statistics, photographs, and logistical observations following UN formatting standards.
• Adapt to temporary re‑assignments or movement of duty stations as operational needs evolve.

Required profile

• Proven experience in prehospital or emergency medical care, preferably in remote or austere environments.
• Willingness to travel extensively across multiple Colombian departments and to reside in field locations meeting basic safety standards.
• Ability to produce clear, timely written reports in English and adhere to UN documentation guidelines.
• Flexibility to work irregular hours and respond to emergencies at any time.
