PV & BESS Design Engineer LATAM

About the role

Zelestra is seeking a senior engineer to lead the design of large‑scale photovoltaic (PV) and PV‑plus‑Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across Latin America. Based in Bogotá, you will ensure technical excellence, compliance with international standards, and alignment with the company’s strategic goals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead conceptual and detailed design of PV and PV+BESS projects from site assessment to construction‑ready documentation.
• Perform feasibility studies, energy yield assessments, and grid integration analyses.
• Ensure compliance with local and international standards, safety regulations, and quality procedures.
• Collaborate with civil, electrical, mechanical, and project‑management teams to deliver integrated designs.
• Support permitting processes by providing technical input for environmental and regulatory documentation.
• Review and validate supplier and contractor proposals, specifications, and drawings.
• Contribute to CAPEX/OPEX estimations and profitability analysis.
• Provide technical support during execution, commissioning, and performance monitoring.
• Manage engineering contractors and supervise supply providers to guarantee technical quality and schedule adherence.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Renewable Energy, Mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience designing large‑scale PV and/or PV+BESS projects.
• Strong knowledge of IEC, IEEE, NFPA, NEC standards and local grid codes.
• Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Intermediate or higher level of English (mandatory).
