Transport Officer

About the role

The United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia (UNVMC) is seeking a Transport Officer to lead its Transport Unit. Based in Bogotá, the incumbent will manage surface transport services, ensure road safety, and oversee the unit’s budget and training activities.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, manage and supervise surface motor transport support for UNVMC.
• Develop and implement Vehicle Establishment, Acquisition, Maintenance and Recovery Plans.
• Design and run road accident prevention and road safety programmes, including the Driving Test Programme.
• Prepare cost‑effective transport resupply plans and oversee outsourcing where required.
• Control inventory, conduct annual vehicle checks and maintain accurate records.
• Create and maintain Surface Transport Standard Operating Procedures.
• Prepare performance reports and respond to audit observations.
• Define technical specifications, evaluate bids and coordinate procurement processes.
• Oversee contracts for goods and services and assess vendor performance.
