Business & Legal Affairs, Compliance Manager

About the role

Symphonic Distribution, an independent music distribution and marketing company, is hiring a Business & Legal Affairs, Compliance Manager. The role manages copyright infringement, improper activity (such as artificial streaming, policy circumvention on digital service providers and system abuse) and related compliance matters, working alongside the Associate Counsel, Rights. It reports to the Associate Counsel, Rights and starts on or shortly after January 4, 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Review, track and process copyright, trademark, artificial streaming and other improper activity notices
• Communicate with clients and third parties on these notices in line with Symphonic's policies
• Track timelines for responses, including strike and termination notices
• Develop and implement a policy for processing improper activity notices
• Investigate improper activity by researching client history, account information and other data
• Maintain documentation and reporting on notices and communications
• Identify process improvements to stay compliant with DSP partner requirements and privacy laws, including DSARs and GDPR data deletion requests
• Analyze trends and emerging law and industry practice, and support the legal team
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and support escalated legal matters
• Brief the Associate Counsel, Rights and/or Head of Business & Legal Affairs regularly

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree
• Understanding of copyright law, DMCA, improper activity in music and entertainment, fraud prevention and AI regulation
• Passion for the legal aspects of independent music distribution
• Team player with high ethical standards and confidentiality
• Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is not required but helpful

Required skills

• Experience in copyright dispute management, improper activity and infringement
• Zendesk or similar helpdesk software
• Monday.com boards and Excel

The position is remote, with minimal travel, and pays between 7,000,000 and 9,000,000 COP gross per month depending on experience.
