Director, Accounting

About the role

The Director, Accounting will lead key accounting and financial reporting activities for Mastercard's Technology Controllership team. Reporting to the VP, Controller – Technology, this senior position ensures the integrity of financial statements and supports finance transformation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes for the Technology Controllership team.
• Manage accounting, internal controls, and compliance with Mastercard policies, SOX, and Operational Risk Management.
• Liaise with Regional Controllers on global initiatives to ensure consistency and accuracy.
• Review and mitigate risks through control design and evolving business processes.
• Identify and implement AI and automation solutions to streamline accounting processes.
• Partner with Finance, Controllership, Sourcing, Tax, and GBSC to establish front‑end and back‑end controls.
• Maintain, update, or establish accounting policies as needed.
• Prepare accounting memos, documentation, and analysis.
• Support intercompany arrangements, shared‑service cost recharges, and related pricing documentation.
• Drive finance modernization projects, including AI‑enabled tools for close acceleration and control testing.
• Build, manage, and develop a high‑performing accounting team.

Required profile

• Fluent in English.
• Degree in Accounting.
• CPA certification (or equivalent).
