Director, Ophthalmology Clinical & Regulatory Strategic Communications

About the role

The Director of Clinical and Regulatory Strategic Communications (CRSC) for Ophthalmology leads the creation and delivery of high‑quality regulated content that supports the development pipeline and enables data sharing with customers. This senior position partners across departments and divisions to ensure scientific accuracy, compliance, and health‑literacy‑focused communication.

Key responsibilities

• Envision, plan, and manage CRSC projects, engaging strategically with internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide scientific expertise and oversight for clinical regulatory and public‑facing documents across multiple therapeutic areas.
• Design, author, edit, and review accurate, clear documents following medical‑writing best practices such as lean writing and health literacy.
• Lead cross‑functional teams, applying critical thinking, problem‑solving, and negotiation to resolve complex challenges.
• Act as escalation point for issues affecting timelines, quality, or compliance.
• Identify and lead initiatives to improve medical‑writing processes, tools, and technology platforms.
• Mentor and coach other medical writers, and may manage direct reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a health, scientific, or related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of medical‑writing or industry experience, with specific ophthalmology expertise (retinal diseases such as AMD, RVO, DME).
• Deep knowledge of clinical development, global regulations, and pharmaceutical landscape.
