Driver – United Nations Verification Mission

About the role

The United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia is seeking a reliable driver to support the Transport Unit in Bogotá. The incumbent will ensure safe and efficient transport of personnel, cargo, and official documents while maintaining the assigned vehicles.

Key responsibilities

• Drive mission vehicles safely for the transport of authorized staff and general cargo.
• Deliver parcels, documents, and mail between UN offices, ministries, embassies and other institutions.
• Collect and deliver urgent purchases, handle customs formalities and make payments when required.
• Receive and escort official personnel at the airport.
• Perform day‑to‑day vehicle maintenance: check oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres, conduct minor repairs and arrange for larger repairs.
• Log fuel consumption, maintenance activities and report any damage or loss.
• Provide VIP and standby driver services as needed.
• Lead junior drivers by assigning tasks and shifts.
• Follow all UN rules and regulations in case of accidents and report accordingly.

Required skills

• Valid driver’s licence appropriate for mission vehicles.
• Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and minor repair procedures.
• Ability to log and report fuel consumption and maintenance records accurately.
