Lead Data Engineer

About the role

Newfire Global Partners is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to architect and deliver a greenfield data warehouse on Azure. You will work directly with the CEO and product owners to translate business needs into a modern analytics stack.

Key responsibilities

• Define target architecture and data models for a Snowflake‑based warehouse using Medallion Architecture principles.
• Lead evaluation and implementation of the semantic layer (e.g., Cube) and BI tools such as Hex, Lightdash, or Metabase.
• Establish a Definition of Done that includes documentation, testing, and peer review.
• Design a data quality framework with dbt tests and observability patterns.
• Manage sprint planning, backlog grooming, and quarterly roadmap for the data team.

Required profile

• Proven experience building data platforms within the Azure ecosystem.
• Prior experience as a Tech Lead, Data Architect, or Analytics Engineering Lead.
• Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to non‑technical executives.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery cadence.
