Mechanical Engineer – Gas Compression Systems

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Energy team in Bogotá. The successful candidate will focus on the design, specification and oversight of gas compression and related mechanical equipment, ensuring safe, economical and reliable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations and develop analysis models for projects.
• Create specifications and data sheets for mechanical, packaged and gas compression equipment.
• Generate and maintain equipment and piping specialty item lists.
• Review equipment information for flow diagrams and P&IDs.
• Select suitable materials of construction and evaluate compatibility.
• Conduct piping hoop stress, wall‑thickness, NPSHA, flow velocity and pressure analyses.
• Support design, evaluation and selection of gas compression systems using web‑based and vendor tools.
• Prepare detailed specifications covering performance, design codes and vendor drawing requirements.
• Provide mechanical engineering data to other disciplines and participate in design reviews and client meetings.
• Interpret and apply applicable industry codes and standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum three years of engineering and design experience, preferably with gas compression systems.
• Experience in the oil and gas industry is highly recommended.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced project environment.
• Strong analytical skills and sound engineering judgment.
