Python Software Engineer

About the role

An established American human resources outsourcing and technology provider is hiring a Python Software Engineer through Emapta Colombia. You will build scalable applications, RESTful APIs and enterprise solutions that improve workforce management for businesses worldwide. The position is a day-shift, remote contract with weekends off.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new application features from the product roadmap using efficient, well-structured Python code and established design patterns.
• Maintain and enhance existing code, automated tests and software functionality.
• Integrate applications with multiple third-party RESTful APIs and with existing IT infrastructure.
• Design and implement enterprise-scale software solutions aligned with business objectives.
• Define technical specifications with development teams, write clean, documented code and perform unit and integration tests before deployment.
• Conduct code reviews and evaluate application performance and reliability.
• Translate business requirements and data models into reliable applications and scalable architectures.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 3 to 5 years of software engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 3 years of production-level Python development with modern web frameworks such as Django, FastAPI or Flask.
• Preferred: frontend experience with React and TypeScript, and deployment experience with AWS.

Required skills

• RESTful API design, development and consumption.
• Relational databases and SQL, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Background job processing and task queues such as Celery.
• Automated testing frameworks such as pytest.
• Git and GitHub; HTML5, CSS and JavaScript.
