Software Engineer – Elixir/Phoenix (Remote – LATAM)

About the role

Bluelight is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join its rapidly growing remote team serving Latin America. You will work on high‑performance backend systems using Elixir and the Phoenix framework, collaborating with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain reusable, reliable backend services and APIs with Elixir/Phoenix.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate product requirements into scalable solutions.
• Own features from specification through launch, writing clean code and managing releases.
• Write unit and integration tests, conduct code reviews, and uphold code quality standards.
• Identify bottlenecks, fix bugs, and continuously improve performance, scalability, and fault tolerance.
• Stay up‑to‑date with Elixir ecosystem trends and best practices.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency with Elixir and the Phoenix framework.
• Experience with OTP, concurrent and distributed systems, and functional programming.
• Proven ability to design and implement RESTful (or GraphQL) APIs and work with PostgreSQL via Ecto.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, agile mindset.
