AWS Backend Senior Software Developer III

About the role

Caseware, a Canadian fintech company behind audit and accounting software used by hundreds of thousands of professionals, is hiring a Senior Software Developer III for a fully remote position based in Colombia. The role is a technical leadership position: you shape architecture and design, mentor other developers, and partner with cross-functional stakeholders to turn technical decisions into business value. You will also guide agentic-AI tools and review designs, and the department focuses on the AWS AgentCore Gateway layer.

Key responsibilities

• Create architecture, prototypes and design proposals aligned with the product and platform vision, and champion proposals through the SDLC
• Influence technical direction through architecture reviews, RFCs and design discussions, and break large initiatives into parallelizable work
• Mentor developers through design reviews, joint agentic-AI sessions and feedback on prompts and agent inputs
• Troubleshoot production issues and drive reliability, observability, monitoring and incident response
• Contribute to the core product build, CI/CD pipelines and the SDLC, and keep technical documentation current
• Represent the team with Tech Leads, Operations, Product/UX, Security and domain experts
• Build and operate the AWS AgentCore Gateway layer, including the target registry, tenant isolation, credential handling, allowlisting and egress control
• Build the inbound surface for external agents and clients over MCP and adjacent protocols, with authentication, scope enforcement and rate limiting
• Operate the on-premise connectivity path, including session lifecycle, request correlation and recovery, and implement session and scope propagation
• Design and evolve OpenAPI contracts and target runtimes, and implement outbound authorization (IAM/SigV4, OAuth)
• Contribute to end-to-end tracing, SLOs and observability for gateway traffic

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience
• 8+ years of professional software development experience with impact beyond a single team
• Proven experience with distributed, cloud-native, SaaS/multi-tenant platforms at scale, ideally on AWS
• Experience mentoring developers and influencing architectural decisions
• English at high B2 level

Required skills

• Backend and platform: Node.js/TypeScript
• Cloud and infrastructure: AWS Lambda, AWS Bedrock, AWS AgentCore Gateway
• Protocols: REST, GraphQL, OpenAPI, Model Context Protocol (MCP)
• Nice to have: AWS CDK, CloudFormation or Terraform; experience with MCP, multi-tenant gateways, authorization propagation and streaming architectures
