Background Screening & Right To Work Specialist

About the role

The Global Business Services Center (GBSC) at Mastercard is looking for a Background Screening & Right To Work Specialist to ensure timely and compliant background checks and work‑authorization verifications for new hires across the AMRS (NAM & LAC) region.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate background screening of new hires and existing employees through approved vendors, ensuring compliance with local laws and Mastercard policies.
• Verify right‑to‑work status for new hires to meet regulatory requirements.
• Document, track, and resolve employee inquiries using the case management system.
• Escalate complex cases to Subject Matter Experts or Tier 2 support with full documentation.
• Maintain confidentiality of data in line with U.S. HIPAA and Mastercard confidentiality standards.
• Support audit compliance through proper transaction processing and approval flows.
• Identify and help implement process improvements.
• Assist with training new hires and updating procedural documentation.
