Controller – Senior Accounting Leader (Remote LATAM)

About the role

The company is a high‑growth US venture‑backed business seeking a senior Controller to own the entire accounting function remotely from LATAM. You will be the most senior accounting leader, reporting to the CEO and finance leadership, and responsible for accurate financial statements, close processes and audit readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly and annual close, ensuring calendar adherence, quality output and timely cycle completion.
• Prepare and stand behind the P&L, balance sheet and cash‑flow statements under US GAAP for leadership, auditors and the board.
• Design and enforce accounting policies, internal controls, approval workflows and SOPs that scale with the business.
• Manage the annual audit or review, coordinating with external auditors, preparing PBC lists and resolving findings.
• Oversee multi‑entity consolidation, intercompany eliminations and foreign‑currency translation.

Required profile

• 8‑10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership of an accounting team.
• Demonstrated ownership of the close and financial statements on an independent basis.
• Strong command of US GAAP (ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 718) and experience with multi‑entity accounting.
• Experience leading audits, managing external auditors and coordinating tax compliance.
• Comfortable working remotely with US‑based leadership and auditors, with excellent written and verbal English.

Required skills

• US GAAP, revenue recognition (ASC 606), lease accounting (ASC 842), stock‑based compensation (ASC 718).
• ERP systems such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks Online or Xero.
• Finance tools including Ramp, Brex, Bill.com, Rippling, Gusto, FloQast.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets and Power BI or comparable reporting tools.
