Country Director, Colombia

About the role

The Country Director for Colombia will lead Rainforest Alliance’s mission to drive impact and revenue growth across the country, implementing the organization’s 2030 strategy. Reporting to the Managing Director (Americas), you will manage a matrix team of managers and work closely with global functions, donors, and private‑sector partners.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the 2030 strategy in Colombia, adapting it to local conditions and coordinating with regional and global teams.
• Identify and develop business opportunities that align with Rainforest Alliance’s value propositions, focusing on regenerative agriculture, climate initiatives, bio‑economy and new‑crop expansion.
• Lead donor‑funded program delivery, ensuring alignment with the country’s overall strategy and maintaining strong donor relationships.
• Advocate with senior government officials, regulatory bodies, industry associations and multilateral organizations to strengthen the organization’s institutional positioning.
• Enable certification adoption by removing local barriers and acting as a bridge between global product teams and the Colombian ecosystem.
• Monitor market, political and reputational risks and provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in agriculture, environment or sustainability sectors, preferably with a focus on market‑facing roles.
• Track record of driving revenue growth and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
• Strong understanding of regenerative agriculture, climate‑related programs, and sustainable forest management.
• Experience working with donors, multilateral organizations and public‑private partnerships.
• Excellent communication and advocacy skills with senior‑level government officials.
