Data Engineer

About the role

GEA, a global supplier for the food, beverage and pharmaceutical sectors, is seeking a Data Engineer to design and operate a unified data warehouse and data lake supporting analytics and AI workloads.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement data architecture, including storage layers, access patterns and scalability strategies.
• Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Databricks and Azure Data Factory, integrating data from ERP, CRM and other sources.
• Establish data quality standards, validation rules, cataloguing, lineage tracking and documentation.
• Collaborate with data scientists, BI analysts and developers to translate business requirements into robust data models and pipelines.
• Monitor and optimise query performance, pipeline efficiency and infrastructure costs.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in data engineering or a closely related field.
• Expert-level proficiency in SQL, including complex query design and performance tuning.
• Hands‑on experience with Databricks for large‑scale data processing.
• Proven experience designing enterprise‑scale data warehouse or data lake solutions.
• Professional‑level proficiency in Spanish; English is a strong advantage.
