Data Scientist - Advanced Analytics

About the role

The Abbott Established Pharmaceutical Division (EPD) is hiring a Data Scientist for its Colombia office in Bogota, reporting to the Senior Manager Data Science Solutions. The role sits within the Advanced Analytics team, which works with data and technologies such as machine learning, deep learning and generative AI to support business targets. The Data Scientist is expected to be internally driven, take ownership of impactful data-driven solutions and work on problems from diverse functions such as optimized manufacturing, time-series forecasting and route planning.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in or drive data collection, cleaning, analysis and interpretation (EDA)
• Work with business partners and product owners to design solutions to challenging problems
• Create visualizations to communicate findings
• Select models, validate them and explore deployment options with the engineering team
• Write high-quality code with deployment in mind, and extend existing code bases for new regions or use cases
• Share learnings with colleagues and collaborate with senior data scientists on analysis and modeling
• Maintain close contact with key business stakeholders and relevant communities
• Build efficient advanced analytics solutions using available market resources and keep up with the latest trends and technologies

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in applied mathematics, computer science, engineering or applied statistics
• At least 3 years of relevant experience, ideally in a pharma environment
• Fluency in Spanish and English is required; additional languages are a plus

Required skills

• Data mining, statistical modelling, predictive modelling and machine learning algorithm development
• Programming in Python (preferred) or R
