Director of Finance (Remote)

About the role

Blacksmith Agency is a fully remote US digital agency of 30 to 40 people running websites, SEO, paid media and branding. It is looking for a Director of Finance who owns finance end to end, including the people operations that go with it, and reports directly to ownership as the senior finance person. The position is full-time and remote, open to Latin America or South Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Finance: keep the books clean with the bookkeeper, run the monthly close, manage cash, payables, receivables and controls
• FP&A: build revenue, margin and cash flow models and forecasts, track monthly actuals versus forecast, unit economics and the hiring capacity model
• People operations: handle onboarding and offboarding for a remote team across several countries, manage contracts, set up payroll and control access in and out
• Give ownership clear answers on where the business stands and what to do about it

Required profile

• Has run finance independently before: built the models, owned the close and reported to ownership on the numbers
• Independent and driven, able to work without a checklist handed to them
• Full-time as their only job, with substantial overlap with US business hours
• Services or agency finance experience is a plus
