Dispatcher I

About the role

The Dispatcher I supports the efficient movement of local freight by coordinating pickups, deliveries, and driver assignments. This position acts as the communication hub between drivers, delivery agents, and customers, ensuring shipments are tracked and documented accurately.

Key responsibilities

• Route local freight and dispatch drivers to meet scheduled appointments.
• Perform dock checks and coordinate with dock staff to keep freight moving.
• Track shipments in real‑time and enter milestone data (pickup, delivery, proof of delivery) into tracking systems.
• Provide customer service by handling inquiries, concerns, and complaints.
• Plan driver loads based on geographic mapping and appointment windows.
• Identify and prioritize rushed or last‑minute shipments.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of experience in dispatching, logistics coordination, or transportation management.
• Familiarity with final‑mile delivery operations and routing software.
• Strong problem‑solving ability, high attention to detail, and solid organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
