Electrical Designer / Junior Electrical Engineer

About the role

WSP is looking for a motivated Electrical Designer or Junior Electrical Engineer to support low‑voltage distribution system design, with exposure to EV charging, solar PV integration and sustainability‑driven projects. You will work under the guidance of a Professional Engineer and a Senior Designer to produce detailed electrical drawings and specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop electrical projects from preliminary studies through detailed engineering, including medium‑ and low‑voltage distribution, networking, site layouts and foundation details.
• Prepare CAD/Revit drawings such as site plans, single‑line diagrams, panel schedules, communication diagrams and material take‑offs.
• Draft electrical equipment and installation specifications, conduct site electrical analysis, system studies and prepare purchase and construction quotes.
• Analyze bids and tender documents, ensure deadlines are met and maintain high quality of deliverables.
• Represent the firm to clients and collaborate with senior engineering staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technologist.
• 2+ years of relevant design/drafting experience.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) designation or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of 600 V/MV electrical distribution networks.
• Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code is an asset.
• Fluent English communication skills.
