Field Service Engineer

About the role

The SYSS Engineering Group in Latin America is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support power‑plant control system projects across the region, including Colombia and Mexico. You will work on the design, integration, testing and commissioning of Emerson Ovation DCS solutions for a variety of plant processes.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement hardware databases, logic, graphics and datalinks for non‑complex solutions.
• Select appropriate hardware and software, review documentation for quality and completeness.
• Lead or support project phases such as FAT, SAT, commissioning and startup.
• Supervise subcontractors and remote engineering teams, ensuring adherence to project requirements, schedule and budget.
• Develop functional designs, reverse‑engineer retrofit projects, and create implementation and commissioning plans.
• Promote productivity tools, estimate engineering effort and support risk assessments.

Required profile

• Proven experience with power‑plant process solutions (combustion turbines, steam turbines, HRSG, boilers, water‑treatment, balance‑of‑plant).
• Ability to work independently, communicate clearly with customers and partners, and deliver projects on time.
• Experience in project engineering, technical leadership or commissioning roles within the energy sector.
