Finance Director / Accounting Controller – Remote

About the role

We are seeking a Finance Director / Accounting Controller to lead client‑service engagements for a fast‑growing US‑based accounting firm. This 100% remote, full‑time position offers a consistent Monday‑Friday schedule and the opportunity to shape financial processes for multiple clients.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of client engagements, ensuring proactive communication and high‑quality service delivery.
• Provide day‑to‑day leadership to accounting staff, offering coaching, feedback, and performance support.
• Review and finalize financial statements, management reports, and general‑ledger reconciliations in accordance with GAAP.
• Oversee all accounting processes, execute cleanup projects, and prepare books for external audits.
• Monitor operating costs, develop budgets, forecasts, and variance reports.
• Develop and maintain internal control policies and financial policies to control expenses.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams and client stakeholders to improve operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA or CMA certification preferred.
• Minimum 2 years as an Accounting Manager and 5 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
• Excellent English communication, high integrity, and attention to detail.

Required skills

• QuickBooks for accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and reporting.
• Microsoft Excel – advanced functions such as VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, and macros.
