Financial Analyst

About the role

The Financial Analyst will report directly to the COO of Scholars of Finance and will own both strategic financial analysis and day‑to‑day accounting. This senior individual‑contributor position blends high‑level budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis with hands‑on bookkeeping and financial statement preparation.

Key responsibilities

• Build, maintain and update the annual operating budget and multiple scenario models for a $2.5M+ organization.
• Produce monthly budget‑to‑actual variance analysis, surface cost risks and recommend actions.
• Maintain rolling cash‑flow forecasts and runway projections for leadership.
• Prepare grant and program budgets and related financial reporting.
• Perform daily bookkeeping in QuickBooks, including general ledger, AP, AR, journal entries and monthly reconciliations.
• Close the books each month and prepare financial statements and dashboards for the board.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with strong analytical abilities and a solid accounting foundation.
• Comfortable partnering with leadership to translate financial data into clear guidance.
• Detail‑oriented, able to switch between strategic analysis and precise bookkeeping as calendar demands shift.

Required skills

• QuickBooks (daily bookkeeping, journal entries, reconciliations).
