Head, AI Strategy and Governance

About the role

The Head of AI Strategy and Governance leads the development and execution of the organization’s AI strategic narrative, competitive intelligence, portfolio prioritisation and governance frameworks. Reporting to senior leadership, this role ensures AI initiatives are aligned with business objectives, regulatory expectations and responsible AI standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and evolve the AI strategic narrative, planning materials and priorities in partnership with the Head of Development AI.
• Build and mature a competitive intelligence capability covering external benchmarking, competitor tracking and regulatory/technology monitoring.
• Synthesise intelligence into actionable insights and decision materials for leadership trade‑offs across AI initiatives.
• Oversee AI portfolio strategy, including prioritisation principles, decision frameworks and value governance, integrating competitive signals into recommendations.
• Maintain and improve the AI governance framework, ensuring alignment with enterprise policies, regulatory expectations and Responsible AI standards.
• Monitor governance effectiveness, risk themes and compliance signals, escalating issues as needed.
• Refine the AI operating model, documenting decision rights, escalation paths and accountability structures across strategy, product, delivery and enterprise AI teams.
• Run AI governance forums, coordinate agendas, decisions and documentation, and act as liaison with enterprise AI offices and company‑wide governance bodies.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading AI strategy, governance or portfolio management at a senior level.
• Strong understanding of competitive intelligence, risk oversight and responsible AI principles.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leadership.
• Track record of designing and operating governance frameworks and operating models.
