Head of Accounting (Remote, Portfolio of US Companies)

About the role

MAVIMAVI is seeking an experienced Head of Accounting to own the accounting function across a portfolio of high‑growth US client companies. The position is fully remote, based in Colombia, and requires hands‑on leadership of month‑end close, financial reporting, and audit readiness for multiple entities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual close processes for each client, ensuring timely, accurate financial statements under US GAAP.
• Own revenue recognition (ASC 606), multi‑entity consolidation, intercompany eliminations and foreign currency translation.
• Establish and enforce accounting policies, internal controls, and documentation such as close checklists and SOPs.
• Manage external auditors, tax advisers and bookkeeping partners, overseeing audit preparation and resolution of findings.
• Oversee general ledger, AP, AR, payroll accounting and expense processing, maintaining defined turnaround and accuracy standards.
• Mentor client accounting staff, drive ERP selection and implementation (NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct) and automate close‑management workflows.

Required profile

• 10+ years progressive accounting experience with direct leadership of accounting teams.
• Proven ownership of month‑end close and financial statement preparation on an independent basis.
• Strong command of US GAAP, especially ASC 606 revenue recognition; experience with ASC 842 leases and ASC 718 stock‑based compensation is a plus.
• Experience leading audits, managing external auditors, and handling multi‑entity consolidations.
• Background in outsourced accounting, CPA firm or multi‑entity group environments.
