Health Officer – Americas Region (Colombia)

About the role

The Health Officer supports the Strategic Lead, Health and Wellbeing for the Americas Region in delivering technical assistance and health program implementation across National Societies. Based in the Colombia Country Office, the role has a regional scope covering epidemic preparedness, climate‑related health response, and basic health resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor epidemiological trends, outbreaks and health risk profiles, providing advice on emergency health interventions.
• Support the development and implementation of community health programmes, including first aid, mental health and psychosocial support.
• Provide technical support, guidelines and training materials to National Societies and IFRC delegations across the region.
• Coordinate and facilitate trainings on public health in emergencies, community‑based health and first aid, and MHPSS.
• Contribute to risk and readiness assessments, early action protocols and the review of DREF operations.

Required profile

• Experience in public health, emergency response and capacity‑building within humanitarian contexts.
• Ability to work collaboratively with National Societies, ministries of health and regional partners.
• Strong knowledge of epidemic preparedness, climate‑health adaptation and community health resilience.
